(Peruphasma schultei)
Peruphasma schultei, known as the black beauty stick insect and the golden-eyed stick insect, is a species of phasmid found in the Cordillera del Condor region of northern Peru, prized for its velvety matte-black body, vivid golden eyes, and brilliant crimson vestigial wings.

Enclosure & Setup
- Size: Use a well-ventilated mesh or glass terrarium with a minimum height of 20 to 30 cm (or at least 3 times the length of the insect) to allow proper room for moulting.
- Substrate: Line the bottom with paper towel, coconut coir, or orchid bark to catch waste and retain mild moisture.
- Climbing decor: Provide natural twigs and small branches so they can hang upside down, especially when shedding their skin.
Temperature & Humidity
- Temperature: Keep the enclosure at room temperature between 20°C and 26°C (ideal range is roughly 20–22°C).
- Humidity: Maintain a moderate humidity level of 55% to 70%. Mist the enclosure lightly 2 to 3 times a week, focusing on the food plants rather than spraying the insects directly, as they dislike being wet and high humidity can cause health issues. Use dechlorinated water.
