Colombian Rainbow Boas are slightly more reserved in pattern and colour than their Brazilian cousins but still boast a beautiful gloss across their dark brown and tan skin. As they grow, their iridescence becomes more pronounced, making them an eye-catching display reptile in any collection.
Adults typically reach lengths of 5–6 feet, making them a manageable size for those comfortable with medium-sized constrictors. They are nocturnal, meaning they’re most active at night, and tend to be calm and handleable once they settle in — although juveniles can be defensive at first.
Their care requires some attention to humidity and temperature. These snakes originate from tropical regions and do best in warm enclosures with high humidity (around 70–80%). A proper setup includes moisture-retentive substrate, consistent misting or an automatic fogger, and plenty of secure hides and climbing opportunities.
Feeding is straightforward, with most individuals thriving on a diet of appropriately sized rodents. With the right care, Colombian Rainbow Boas can live upwards of 20 years, offering a long-term commitment and a lot of enjoyment for the right keeper.
